Legacy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Launches New Community Heroes Program to Support First Responders and Military Personnel
January 2025- Legacy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is proud to announce the launch of its Community Heroes Program, a free, specialized training initiative for local first responders and military personnel. Every Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Legacy BJJ Omaha will offer a comprehensive training session, including a combination of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, self-defense, and situation-specific techniques tailored to equip these community heroes with the skills needed to navigate the unique challenges they face on the job.
"We are incredibly excited to give back to those who serve our community and our country," said Matt Lippold, Lead Professor at Legacy BJJ Omaha. "Our instructors, who collectively have over 100 years of law enforcement experience, understand the importance of physical readiness and mental resilience. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a powerful tool that enhances both."
The Community Heroes Program is open to all law enforcement officers, firefighters, and military personnel, regardless of their previous martial arts experience. No prior training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is required to attend. The program is designed to be accessible to all skill levels, from beginners to more experienced practitioners.
The first session of the program, held on January 4th, welcomed 14 participants from multiple agencies across Omaha, Sarpy County, and Southwest Iowa, marking a successful kickoff to the initiative. The response from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with participants noting how the training enhanced their confidence, fitness, and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
